Official trailer:

The film begins with a peppy Anu Malik song, giving John Abraham (Ajju Bhai) a grand entry on the screen. He is filling in for Akshay Kumar in the sequel of director Anees Bazmee‘s 2007 film Welcome.

Welcome Back picks up from where the story ended. The now reformed but silly brothers Majnu (Anil Kapoor) and Uday Shetty (Nana Patekar) are lovingly called the “Laurel and Hardy” of the underworld, as Wanted Bhai (Naseeruddin Shah) has named them. They try to impress a pretty young lady with the dream to finally get married after eight years of marrying their sister Sanjana (Katrina Kaif) off to Rajiv (Akshay Kumar). They are fascinated with Chandni (Ankita Srivastava), who is a con woman, along with her mother (Dimple Kapadia). The ladies ensure they make the most of their foolishness and the millionaire gangster brothers are to be left bankrupt.

Majnu and Shetty are reformed and days of hooliganism are gone, as they desire to become respectable businessmen in Dubai, when Shetty’s father (played by Patekar) arrives to make an announcement that he has a daughter by another marriage and Shetty, as the older brother, should help her settle down. This time again, Majnu and Shetty are busy looking for a “decent” boy for her. They approach the reliable Dr Ghungroo, Rajiv’s uncle but they find out that his wife has a son by a previous marriage, who might be the “perfect” match for their sister Ranjana played by Shruti Haasan. But they come to know that Ghungroo’s (Paresh Rawal) step son Ajju (John Abraham) is actually a criminal. Trying to sustain the values Rajiv left them with they do everything to avoid Ranjana marrying Ajju, who are madly in love.

With hilarious events that lead to the entry of Wanted Bhai, a very dangerous and funny character, than RDX (played by the late Feroz Khan in Welcome). They find out that Wanted’s son is a drug addict (Shiney Ahuja) and is obsessed with Ranjana. Majnu and Shetty try their best to keep Ranjana from being married either to Ajju or Wanted’s son whereas Ajju and Ghungroo try to get Ranjana and Ajju married.

The climax is hilarious and with a few laughs this nonsensical film can pep-up the weekend.

Acting by Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Shah is fantastic – though Dimple has  a short role with very less to perform. Shruti Haasan adds to the glamour quotient in place of Katrina Kaif, who represented in the earlier film.

The music by Anu Malik, Abhishek Ray, Meet Bros Anjan and Mika Singh is melodious. Some spontaneous dialogues from Welcome Back are worth a mention. Dimple Kapadia is introduced as “Yahi hai wo website jis se Rajkumari download hui hai.”

Welcome Back is entertaining in most parts.
