IFFI will pay homage to Manna Dey, Ravi Shankar, Rituparno Ghosh

The 44th International Film Festival of India is going to be held in Goa from November 20 to 30. Legendary singer Prabodh Chandra Dey, known by his stage name Manna Dey will be honoured along with Pandit Ravi Shankar and others.

Manna Dey was an Indian playback singer and gave more than 4000 songs from 1842 to 2013. He debuted in the film Tamanna in 1942 and continued presenting melodies in his lifetime.

Ravi Shankar, was often referred to by the title Pandit, was an Indian musician and composer who played the sitar. He was a famous contemporary Indian musician and is well known all over the world.

Just like before, IFFI will be paying a tribute to celebrated film personalities who passed away in the year. IFFI has a section called homages, where they invite the family members, friends and well-wishers of the personalities to attend the screenings of the artists’ greatest work of art.

According to the officials, this year IFFI will also be paying homage to some leading artistes like director Rituparno Ghosh, actress Sukumari, music composer Lalgudi Jayaraman along with Manna Dey and Ravi Shankar.

IFFI is going to pay respects to film personalities including Japanese film-maker Nagisa Oshima, German born writer Ruth Prawer Jhabwala, South Korean filmmaker Park Chul Soo and Russian cinematographer Vadim Ivanovich Yusov in the international section.
