Mystery that continues throughout the film, Blackmail is a hit with top performances by supporting cast.

This is one of those movies that does not have unnecessary songs and masala, instead has engrossing scenes and storyline.

Blackmail revolves around the life of three people Dev (Irrfan Khan) – a simple and honest husband, Reena (Kriti Kulhari) – the promiscuous cheating wife and Ranjit (Arunoday Singh) – lover of the cheating wife. The film takes off when Dev comes to know his wife is cheating on him with someone else. He decides on taking one of the three options mentally – killing the wife, killing the lover or blackmailing the lover. Dev takes the third option that results in rise of many unexpected happenings. The remaining story is divided into 4 blackmails that take place in the movie. A series of blackmails, where the blackmailer is blackmailed and many more episodes get revealed in the second half. Blackmail has a unique script, the film balances well without crossing between mystery and absurdity. Written by Parveez Sheikh, the script is brilliant.

Irrfan Khan is great in the film, Blackmail benefits with his superb performance. Irrfan Khan gives a casual approach to his look, he masters the scenes that do well with his talent. His character is endearing and perfection can be seen throughout the film. Kriti Kulhari is exceptional in her role just like her previous films, she leaves a mark. She looks great and is able to carry off her badass act well. Arunoday Singh has a pivotal role, he adds a lot of humour and entertainment. Divya Dutta is fantastic and perfect in the role of a loving, foul-mouthed spouse. She nailed the look and has put in great effort into the skin of her character. Pradhuman Singh Mall, Noora from Tere Bin Laden, plays the role of Irrfan’s friend Anand Tripathi, he excels as a great actor. Omi Vaidya who plays the role of Boss DK, Gajraj Rao as Chawla and Anuja Sathe as Prabha give memorable performances.

Blackmail has Amit Trivedi’s songs along with Mickey McCleary’s music that works well for the film. Nindaraan Diyaan is suitable and reveals the crux of ‘cheating wife’ in the film. Badla and Sataasat are example of songs that are perfectly used in a film.

Blackmail is entertaining. Irrfan Khan and the entire team is brilliant!
