Nanu Ki Jaanu is a good movie with Manu Rishi Chadha’s comic timing. The film could have utilized the talents of actors like Abhay Deol, Manu Rishi Chadha and Rajesh Sharma. Audience are willing to watch if it is something like Oye Lucky Lucky Oye.

Nanu (Abhay Deol) is a deadly land mafia who gets involved in a road accident in which Siddhi (Patralekhaa) gets critical. Just what a decent guy must do, Nanu takes her to the hospital and while they are on their way Siddhi falls for him. She dies on reaching the hospital and her father is in a deep shock. Her father (Rajesh Sharma) is unable to believe the death of her daughter as he keeps her dead body in an ice lid.

This doesn’t go well with the spirit of Siddhi as it returns and hunts Nanu in his house. Nanu, being human, gets scared of the ghost and tries to get rid of her in every possible way. He also tries to make his friends and family believe that his flat is haunted. All this goes on until Siddhi decides to come infront of the people and what happens next, please don’t even try to watch.

Nanu Ki Jaanu is adapted by a Tamil movie, Pisasu. Manu Rishi Chadha has modified the script of Pisasu for this one in Hindi. There’s a scene in the film in which Nanu’s mother (Himani Shivpuri) watches a film and when Nanu asks her how was the film she says “Bahut bakwas!”. The film has a melodramatic father, a ghost in in love with the man, the guy who is okay to fall in love with a ghost and serves cappuccino to her; there’s a lot more to this film.

Abhay Deol should not waste his talent in such films. He has featured in Nanu Ki Jaanu after a couple of years. Patralekhaa is not seen in the film and has close to about 10-15 minutes of role. Manu Rishi Chadha, who is also the writer of the film has many hilarious scenes in the film. He is seen in the role of tu-jaanta-nahi-hai-main-kaun-hoon kind of fun person, he’s a treat to watch in the movie. Rajesh Sharma’s character has been written with a lot of drama.

Nanu Ki Jaanu seems like a bizarre story. The film does not belong to any one genre, it has drama, comedy, horror; making it a mash up. The film also has too many songs, one for party, jagrata etc. Background score of the movie is nothing unusual.

Nanu Ki Jaanu allows talent of superior actors to go waste.
