Omerta starring Rajkummar Rao is a heart wrenching journey that leaves a huge impact.

We are in for another dedicated performance by Rajkummar Rao, the film is prime in editing, background score and the climax. The film is just 97 minutes long, this thriller reveals a lot about the cruelty and manipulations carried out by terrorists.

Omerta is about British-born Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh and his journey of becoming a terrorist. The film starts when he witnesses his people get butchered in the 1994 Bosnian War. He is a bright student, pursuing his education from London School. Omar decides to leave his education and to join Islamic aid expedition in order to provide some kind of assistance to his religion. The film starts with Omar getting in disguise of a Rohit Verma in Delhi. He befriends the foreigners to kidnap them and send a message across the world that they are in danger. While carrying out the kidnapping, Omar gets arrested by the Delhi Police. All those who has followed the journey of real Omar Sheikh know the way he managed to get out of it. Entire story is about the supercilious journey of the life of Omar Sheikh.

Omar’s character is developed well and we see him kidnapping foreigners, planning deadly attacks and a lot more. Makers could have given a little 15 minutes extra that would have helped the story and run-time. The inside life of a dreadful terrorist has been very well explained.

Needless to say, Omerta has a star performance by Rajkummar Rao. He is subtle and yet is able to convey fright, even his one look is spine chilling. His character is brilliantly played with the British accent; Rao has done his best to achieve that and has been successful in doing the same. The complex nature of the character looks real on screen, Rajkummar Rao has portrayed it well. Timothy Ryan Hickernell  is seen in the role of the journalist Daniel Pearl who was kidnapped and apparently killed by Omar Sheikh. He was brave and the only one who challenged him, Timothy did it with tact and proficiently.

Omerta features Hansal Mehta talent as a filmmaker with the help of Anuj Rakesh Dhawan’s cinematography, together they create the narration of the story. Filled with thrills, Omerta keeps everyone on the edge of the seat. Hansal has taken a step up and made the film for the international audience also. The movie majorly is in English, Hansal Mehta has been successful in getting the audience he wants to target. Mandar Kulkarni’s sound and Ishaan Chhabra’s music is great, they perfectly add the background score with additional thrills. Omerta is commendable for the skills of Rajkummar Rao and Hansal Mehta.

Omerta Movie releases on 4th May, 2018.
