Fanney Khan who is known to entertain the people around him yet ironically the film does the same. Prashant Sharma aka Fanney Khan (Anil Kapoor), an orchestra player from 90s, has a dream of making his daughter Lata Sharma (Pihu Sand) a big singer. Her fate was decided as and when she was born. “What I couldn’t do, my daughter will.” Fanney Khan tries hard in launching the first song of his daughter.

He decides to kidnap Baby Singh (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), a famous singer, in order to extort some money from her. Baby Singh is also famous as a dancing star. In this process, Fanney Khan’s colleague and best friend, Adhir (Rajkummar Rao) falls for Baby Singh and the story moves to yet another unwanted twist. Where is the incident going to take them in the future of, is what the remaining story is about.

Fanney Khan is written by Hussain Dalal (he also given dialogues for this week’s other release Karwaan) writes the story of the Everybody’s Famous way. This is a remake of 2002’s Belgian film, Fanney Khan was unable to capture the ‘dark comedy’ essence from the original. The script has many twists and turns. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan makes an entry and gets forced to dance in front of her relatives.

The relation of Fanney and his daughter Lata is endearing, Anil Kapoor is great in the role! He is playing his age and perfectly portrays the role of a concerned father. Rajkummar Rao is good in the film. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has given a good performance. After Jazbaa and Sarabjit, this is her third film that is released. Divya Dutta is great with the screen space she was allotted.

Atul Manjrekar begins his Bollywood journey, his direction was decent but does not have any proper continuation to the scenes. The story is average and even music from Amit Trivedi is just about fine. Apart from Tere Jaisa Tu Hai, there is not a single song that is worth listening.

Fanney Khan stars Anil Kapoor who tries hard to bring some soul in the script but the film does not soar.

Fanney Khan releases on 3rd August, 2018.
