Batti Gul Meter Chalu stars Shahid Kapoor who is impressive in his role!

Located in New Tehri, Batti Gul Meter Chalu is a story of three best friends Susheel Kumar aka SK (Shahid Kapoor), Lalita Nautiyal aka Nauti (Shraddha Kapoor) and Sundar Mohan Tripathi (Divyenndu Sharmaa). The first half of the film explors the love triangle of all the three. SK and Tripathi both of them love Nauti while she’s not very sure of whom to love as both are very at heart.

Tripathi decides to set up a factory and faces immoderate bill cycle. He decides to take some help from SK but because of their confused relationship amongst themselves SK denies to help him. Tripathi take an easy way out, suicide which can help his family to tackle the problems of the factory. What he does and how it changes SK is what the rest of the story is all about.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu is said to be a movie dealing with issues of load-shedding or corruption in the electricity system gets lost in the first half while building up a connect with all the three characters. This is similar to that of Chup Chupke meets Jolly LLB and that seems predictable from the script. Sidharth-Garima could have done better with their work on screenplay. The main focus of the film seem lost, as it takes too much time to say for what the film is made. VFX is average in the film, but they’re still better than Shree’s last film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. Excessive use of words Thehra and Bal seem silly. Their dialect is different and the language seem to have dissected by many in this poorly researched film, some may have issue with it. The film dies have good performances. Shahid Kapoor’s speech in the climax is the best scene of the film.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu stars Shahid Kapoor who delivers a power-packed performance. He is great in his role and gives it all his energy. He has worked on his speech and gives a drastically good impression as well. Shraddha Kapoor is good in her role, the character evolves with each passing scene. Shraddha is well presented as Nauti and look charming in her role. Divyenndu Sharmaa has a great presence and builds his unique sense of picking the right scripts. He didn’t want to get stereotyped and this movie proves his talent. He’s not just good in comical scenes but does brilliantly in emotional ones too. We get to see Yami Gautam in a short but impressive role as Advocate Gulnaar. She lakes over the mannerisms of a lawyer and shares some fun scenes with Shahid Kapoor.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu Movie by Shree Narayan Singh has enhanced the experience since Toilet: Ek Prem Katha but unfortunately the script is not as good as his last film. The film’s intent is visible but is told in very confused manner. The courtroom sequences is hilarious and are well presented. Anu Malik’s cameo with Gold Tamba and the recreation of Dekhte Dekhte are great with the audience. Arijit Singh’s Har Har Gange is a good addition and it’s better with Shahid’s phenomenal acting. The background score is enthusiastic and is good overall.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu conveys a very important thing but the script could have been better. The film is a treat for Shahid Kapoor fans!
