Bumblebee trailer is revealed by the makers

The new Bumblebee film will be out later this year, but it’s already propelling Transformers fans back in time.

The exciting new trailer for the movie not only features Shockwave, Soundwave, Ravage, Starscream, and Optimus Prime, but director Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings) features them in their original 1980s designs.

The original generation of Transformers are back in the next generation of Transformers movies. Not just the Bumblebee — the upcoming Transformers prequel focus around the fan-favorite robot in disguise and starring Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena — be set in the 1980s, the new trailer is appealing to fans of that Transformers from that era, as well.

Much before the release of the new trailer, everything about Travis Knight’s film appeared to suggest that Bumblebee would be a different type of Transformers movie on a number of levels. A teenage girl is the (human) lead and a first trailer raised a sense of wonder and adventure that had more in common with Steven Spielberg’s 1980s output than the Michael Bay’s earlier movies in the franchise.

The character design of Bumblebee, a Volkswagen Beetle as he was in his original toy form, but the new trailer introduces “new” movie designs for Optimus Prime, Soundwave and Shockwave The trailer also includes a scene where Soundwave ejects Ravage from his chest, who transforms with a variation of the sound effect that accompanied such scenes from the original 1980s animated series.
