Ali Fazal and Pradeep Sarkar team up for Arranged Marriage

Actor Ali Fazal has been roped in as the main lead for director-writer Pradeep Sarkar’s next titled Arranged Marriage.

Arranged Marriage is an unique modern day love story set in Kolkata, read a statement.

“It’s a twisted tale between the couple and has its own complexities that will be beautifully explored by Pradeep sir on a larger canvas. We have just begun filming,” Ali said.

“Set in 2018, it touches upon some very essential phases of love, relationships, families that are involved in the marriage…,” he added.

Ali Fazal, who will also be seen in the web series Mirzapur, said it’s an honour and privilege for him to work with the filmmaker “who has given such powerful and meaningful cinema and has worked with some of the best talents of Indian cinema”.

The teaser of Mirzapur was released recently, Ali plays the character introduced as Guddu Pandit. He is gangster, ruthless and has his own set rules before killing a person.

Mirzapur’s trailer was launched on Tuesday giving a glimpse into the Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming original web series. The series is shot around Varanasi, Mirzapur and Mumbai, this Excel Entertainment production chronicles the tale of a gangster who is into the business of weapons and ammunition.

Mirzapur also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Vikrant Massey, Divyendu Sharma, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Shweta Tripathi. The 9-episode series has been directed by Gurmmeet Singh and created by Karan Anshuman and Puneet Krishna. Mirzapur begins streaming from November 16.
