Ever since Gully Boy has released, Siddhant Chaturvedi has been appreciated for his role. His character MC Sher who works in support of the gully boy Murad (Ranveer Singh) as he pursues his dream of becoming a rapper touched the audience who can’t stop praising this new actor. Siddhant’s performance has received equal marks from critics as well.

Siddhant Chaturvedi who was earlier seen in web-series Inside Edge was seen in a unrecognizable avatar in Gully Boy, and it is his journey from there to here that made him stand apart in a film that has Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. “I started writing my own raps before attempting the audition for this character. I got selected only because I could narrate my own raps authentically. However, the raps I used in the film comes from Divine,” says Siddhant who didn’t stop writing after getting the role of MC Sher and feels that his raps can be used at some point. When asked how does he feel about the appreciation he has been receiving, the actor says, “I was expecting a good response but not such an overwhelming kind of a response. People love it so much and are showering tremendous appreciation and love, which I am still observing. I cannot express the joy in words.”

Along with fans we have critics and celebrities who are appreciating Siddhant’s performance. “Shweta Bachchan had visited the sets and thereafter we became friends. Shweta always appreciates my work. She always motivates me,” he says. Talking about the limelight that’s coming his way, the actor says, “Yes! After my character has been appreciated, I do crave for people to come forward. I do feel happy when people recognise me and since aaj kal autograph ka zamana nahi hai but photograph ka hai (It’s not the era of autographs but photographs), I feel great giving away selfies.”

After his popularity that he has been receiving for his character MC Sher, when asked about how will avoid being typecast? Siddhant said: “Simply because I do not accept any role which I feel will typecast me. After doing Inside Edge, I took up this role merely because it was so very different. I was confident about the success of the film as the team had worked so very hard.
