Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota creates a fusion of old filmy style Bollywood with a modern twist of humour and action makes this a fun film.
The film combines action-humour which never lets one disconnect from the narration, the legend of Mahesh Manjrekar adjoining with legendary acts of Gulshan Devaiah. The dialogues of the film are very simple and makes one laugh and feel shocked too.
The script is very good, the first half is good but the second half is spell binding!
Can be watched with the entire family. This film is for a Bollywood buff, born in the 90s, there are every kind of hero that existed. But, Surya (Abhimanyu Dassani) is an entertaining combo of all of them. He suffers from congenital insensitivity to pain, Surya feels no pain (just orgasms). He regularly needs water to be hydrated all the time, as dehydration is the way through which he can be hurt. Through the long 40 minutes of flashback sequences, we get to see the death of Surya’s mother and how his best friend Supri (Radhika Madan) is taken away from him. After years, we have Surya trying to accept the normal life but then he meets his childhood idol Karate Mani (Gulshan Devaiah). Manu reunites him with Supri and introduces him to his twin brother Jimmy, who’s a don in the disguise of a man leading a security services company. Jimmy steals Mani’s locket, his father’s souvenir, and Surya along with Supri plans to get that back.
Vasan Bala’s story is fun and the film is for a 90s Bollywood lover; it’s a surprise waiting at every scene to leave them with nostalgia. Right from the base level of writing, it’s a strong film, the second half of the film has all the fun. All thanks to the well timed dialogues.
Abhimanyu Dassani is great as Surya and manages to do well throughout. Gulshan Devaiah is the fantastic. His amusing character is great to watch, Gulshan is very entertaining. Mahesh Manjrekar is great and keeps the audience hooked. Radhika Madan – is fabulous in the film and when it comes to well choreographed action sequences. Jimit Trivedi is great in his part.
Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota is Vasan Bala’s first movie in the theatres and he brings out everything he has accumulated all these years of being a Bollywood buff. With some very good songs in Tere Liye and gratitude to S.P. Balasubrahmanyam with Life Mein Fair Chance Kiska; the album is great.
Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota celebrates the flaws of Bollywood like never before.
