Junglee is all about adventure, this jungle ride has picturesque locations.

The movie starts with views of an Elephant sanctuary in Odhisha and we are taken directly to Mumbai. An animal doctor Raj (Vidyut Jammwal) is approached by a journalist Meera (Asha Bhat) who plans to interview Raj and his father for maintaining an Elephant sanctuary. Raj, who is not in touch with his dad since years, realises he’s wrong and goes back to his home town to attend his mother’s death anniversary. On reaching there, he get to see a lot of changes and there aren’t many people left to take care of Elephants. He bonds with his few old friends in Shankara (Pooja Sawant), Dev (Akshay Oberoi) and Bhola the Elephant who’s now the king of the jungle. He has the mightiest tusks ever on an Elephant, Bhola is sadly hunted by the tusks smugglers of Taiwan. The film is about Raj who tries to save the jungle from the bad guys is what the rest of the story is all about.

Junglee film is written by four writers (Rohan Sippy, Charudatt Acharya, Umesh Padalkar, Ritesh Shah) although its story seems to be the same old one of saving the jungle and its animals. Mark Irwin has give n the camera work but has too many shots in air than required. The story drags a lot.

Junglee starring Vidyut Jammwal can perform some astounding action sequences. Vidyut is seen doing everything he has done various times before (going through a small window in a chasing sequence). The talent of Atul Kulkarni and Makrand Deshpande is not used. Pooja Sawant looks good but her role is limited. Asha Bhat has a small role and hence is unable to leave a mark.

Tanuj Tiku & Sameer Uddin’s background score are good and blends well with the action sequences. Special mention for the BGM in Vidyut’s Kalaripayattu sequence in the beginning. From the songs, Dosti is good as it showcases the connect with Raj and Bhola’s friendship.

Junglee is a good film and showcases the importance of protecting our eco-system.

Junglee releases on 29th March 2019.
