Well-known Bollywood filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor, popular for films such as Hyderabad Blues, Rockford and Iqbal, is making his Telugu debut with a yet-untitled sports romantic comedy starring Keerthy Suresh in the titular role.
The project, which has already gone on the floors, was officially announced over the weekend. In an interview to PTI, Kukunoor revealed that he’s terrified about finally making a film in Telugu, which is his mother tongue.
“I’ve started directing it and the first schedule is over. The official launch will happen soon. I’m terrified doing a Telugu film. It’s my mother tongue but I never learned to read and write in Telugu,” he said.
“It’s one of my biggest regret. So every time I was either offered a Telugu film or thought about it, I was always terrified. It’s like delving into a new language. I knew whenever I do direct, I would have to do a lot of homework,” he added.
The film also stars Aadhi Pinisetty, Jagapathi Babu and Rahul Ramakrishna in pivotal roles. Devi Sri Prasad has been roped in to compose music. The makers are yet to reveal rest of the cast and crew.
Produced by Sudheer Chandra, the film will be predominantly shot in Hyderabad and Pune. It is being in the making planned as a September release.
In June, Keerthy Suresh will commence shooting for her Hindi debut film opposite Ajay Devgn. The film will be directed by Amit Sharma of Badhaai Ho fame and produced by Boney Kapoor. The biopic will also chronicle our national football team’s glory from 1950 to 1963. While Ajay will essay the role of Syed Abdul Rahim, Keerthy will play his wife in the film.
