Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) has always been in the news for suggesting unnecessary cuts in the film. Now the censor board used their scissor on Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet’s upcoming rom-com De De Pyaar De.

Reportedly, CBFC has suggested the makers to replace the bottle of booze in Rakulpreet Singh’s hands with flowers in the song Vaddi Sharaban. This has not happened for the first time, last year CBFC had suggested the makers of Padmaavat to cover the midriff of Deepika Padukone in the song Ghoomar. The change was done later with the help of CGI.

Notably, this is not the only change that CBFC has suggested to the DDPD makers. They have also told them to cut the dialogues “performance better hoti hai” and “Manju ji ke aalu o ho ho… wahi ache hai” considering that they have a double meaning.

Sharing more about the changes, an industry source told Bollywood Hungama, “Let’s wait for the film to release. We need to know the context of the scene before jumping to conclusions. Also, the part where the flower has been put instead of alcohol might not be a part of the said song – it might be a different sequence altogether. Even then, it’s very strange that such an order was passed by the CBFC. Heroines have been shown drinking since 55-60 years in our films or even more than that. Then it was taboo and now it’s fully acceptable. And the visuals of ‘Vaddi Sharaban’ indicate that the makers have shot in a classy manner. It doesn’t look derogatory in any way. Then why did they ask for such a modification beats me!”

De De Pyaar De is starring Ajay Devgn, Rakulpreet and Tabu. The film is slated to release on May 16, 2019.
