Batla House is an entertainer and it has gripping content!
The film is inspired by true events and the efforts of the team in portraying them on-screen needed to be with conviction. John Abraham offers yet-another brilliant performance after Parmanu.
Batla House is based on the real-life encounter case named as Operation Batla House, which happened in 2008 in Delhi. The film starts showing ACP Sanjay Kumar dealing with his personal and also at professional front. After a heated argument with wife Nandita (Mrunal Thakur), a journalist, he shifts to a place called Batla House in which he is in charge and would lead a mission. Things go haywire when one of Sanjay’s officers, KK (Ravi Kishan), does not take a direct order and deals with the students at the crime scene. Delhi Police is monitored by the media and activists who are looking for justice for those students. But as per Sanjay and team, the students were linked with a terrorist organization named as Indian Mujahideen. The entire team is taken to court and get questioned about what they did was right. The entire story revolves around the case and will the police be able to defend themselves in the case.
Ritesh Shah’s story is engrossing and becomes an integral part of giving shape to the film into a fascinating watch. The writers have worked for incorporating a love angle in a thriller. Saumik Mukherjee’s camera work is impressive and they manage to capture the rustic streets of Delhi flawlessly. Batla House is 143 minutes minutes long, gains the interest at certain sequences; makers could’ve avoided some portions. Apart from it, Maahir Zaveri’s editing is commendable.
Batla House features John Abraham who delivers one of his best performances as Sanjay Kumar in the film. He was great in Parmanu, and takes his craft higher. Mrunal Thakur is good too, she is great in Love Sonia and here she has a character equivalent to her talent. Mrunal justifies the role as Nandita, but she’s a talent waiting to explode. Ravi Kishan is a fine actor and his character play was decent. Rajesh Sharma is exceptional as the opposition lawyer. His performance in the courtroom scenes should be watched on the big screen. Sahidur Rahman, Kranti Prakash Jha and each actor playing the role of terrorists are really good.
Batla House has Ankit Tiwari’s Rula Diya, a melodious song and O Saki Saki will be liked by the audience; Nora looks stunning in her small cameo.
Batla House is a thriller and John Abraham’s performance is ideal. Nikkhil Advani is phenomenal with his direction.
Batla House releases on 15th August, 2019.
