The film is glossy and is very well-directed but the story convinces you to stay, the other aspects of the film are average. The story of Zoya Factor revolves around luck and with Shah Rukh Khan on-board to narrate the story. It’s about a girl, Zoya (Sonam Kapoor), who was born on the day India won its first Cricket World Cup under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. Her father believes that Zoya has the gift of Cricket gods to the family. Just as every Indian family, this family is also superstitions. Zoya grows up being a Junior Copywriter in an ad agency and she gets an oppurtunity to shoot with the Indian Cricket Team.

Zoya tells the team about her luck and India wins the match of that day after consecutive losses. Everyone starts believing it’s Zoya’s luck that’s helping India win but the captain Nikhil Khoda (Dulquer Salmaan) thinks otherwise. Nikhil believes in hard work but couldn’t help falling in love with Zoya. Now, is he is really in love with her or just needs her luck? That’s makes the rest of the story is all about and also whether or not India will win the World Cup.

The Zoya Factor is Anuja Chauhan’s story and is good for a book but it’s not a good transformation on screen. The film has fantasies and is far from reality. The screenplay could have been better with unconvincing bits and it remains the same till the very last frame. Right from imitating the real-life Cricketers like Shikhar Dhawan, MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar to slow matches, the film is unable to get the ‘Cricket’ aspect right.

Manoj Lobo’s Cinematography is brilliant, he has exposed the Green-screen shots. Rajat Poddar’s production design is attractive and it’s good to watch it. Screenplay writer (also a good actor) Pradhuman Singh gives Dulquer his 70-minute time frame, but it does not leave any impact.

The Zoya Factor is a film made to order for Sonam Kapoor and she deals with the clumsy character role well. She very well. This is a role where Sonam could just don some designer clothes and be herself. Dulquer Salmaan looks good but the script didn’t seem fit for him. He can act brilliantly but needs someone to guide him with the right script. As cricketers, Angad Bedi gives his best. Sanjay Kapoor is good, Sikander Kher is cased as Sonam’s brother but is not convincing in the role.

The Zoya Factor movie is directed by Abhishek Sharma, he creates the world of Zoya making it look appealing and beautiful. There are three songs in the film, this movie could have had better situational songs. Lucky Charm is good for the initial but but then Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy couldn’t give their best here. Indrajit Sharma and Parikshit Sharma’s background score is animated with a lot of noise.

The Zoya Factor could have been more of entertainment! A few performances are good but the movie is average.

The Zoya Factor releases on 20th September, 2019.
