Actress Sanya Malhotra is regarded as one of the most versatile actresses in the film industry. She made her bollywood debut with film Dangal which proved to be a huge hit and she did films like Pataakha and Badhaai Ho. After giving an impressive performance in Badhaai Ho, Sanya Malhotra has been roped in to take the role of Shakuntala Devi‘s daughter in the biopic starring Vidya Balan.

Sanya will be essaying the role of Anupama Banerji in the film. The 27-year-old actress was happy to post about her next project with Vidya Balan. She said, “I am very excited to play the iconic Shakuntala Devi’s daughter – Anupama Banerji. Everyone knows the achievements of the Math genius Shakuntala Devi. I’m thrilled to bring onscreen this dynamic mother-daughter relationship and equally thrilled to work with Vidya Balan.”

Director Anu Menon revealed that he was glad to find a better person than Sanya to play the role. Shedding some light on Sanya’s role, he said that she will be able to capture the love of a daughter for her indefinable and doting mother. Stating that Sanya intuitively appreciated the character and her journey, Anu feels that the audience will fall in love with both Sanya and Vidya Balan’s character.

Sharing about Shakuntala Devi, it is the story of Shakuntala Devi, who secured a place in the Guinness World Book of Records’ 1982 edition for her achievements. Shakuntala was famous for her arithmetic skills and had travelled the world with her father, demonstrating her talent.

Jisshu Sengupta is going to play Vidya Balan’s on-screen husband Paritosh Banerji. Avinash Tiwary is roped in to play the role of Ajay Abhay Kumar in the film. The upcoming film is slated for a Summer 2020 release.
