The Sky Is Pink stars Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka and Zaira in lead roles. The film relies on high emotions and that takes the film to great heights.

The film falls in the drama genre, the story covers a journey through 30 years of a couple’s lifetime. Aisha aka Moose (Priyanka Chopra) and Niren aka Panda are school-time sweethearts who get married but with face a lot of difficult. They have a child called Tanya who passes away at the age of 1 due to illness, and then they welcome Ishaan (elder role played by Rohit Saraf). Due to a rare genetic disorder in both the parents, their third child Aisha (elder role played by Zaira Wasim) faces a lot of difficulties in surviving since her birth. Aisha narrates the story of her passing away and also the efforts taken by Panda and Moose to keep the family together. All-through the journey, audience will see various obstacles faced by the parents in order to protect their children.

The Sky Is Pink is a complex film to write but Shonali Bose and writer Juhi Chaturvedi and Nilesh Maniyar have written the story keeping the sentiments as the base of the film. The Sky Is Pink is a sad story but becomes special as it’s told in a light-hearted saga. Kartik Vijay and Nick Cooke capture the authenticity of Delhi to the elegance of London through their camera. The writing of ‘let’s make a joke on death’ proves to be true in a few scenes.

The Sky Is Pink features Farhan Akhtar who delivers a brilliant performance. Farhan is able to take over in every single aspect of his character with comfort and ease. He adapts to the scenes and his character and masters them all. Priyanka Chopra connects emotionally with the audience and her character’s older days are also played with her presence. Zaira Wasim is natural, she was seen in her debut in Dangal, then in Secret Superstar. She is able to act without going overboard. Rohit Saraf is good in his role, he has a few impressive scenes and performs them very subtly with tact.

The Sky Is Pink is made by filmmaker who gave us Ammu and Margarita With A Straw, Shonali Bose stages great stories. The film comes with limited songs, this one features – Dil Hi Toh Hai & Zindagi. Both are well placed and add they do carry the narrative along. Gulzar’s exceptional lyrics add to the mood of the film. A special song in the climax is the most memorable and is heavenly.

The Sky Is Pink is a colourful representation of the essence of life.
