Made In China has a dialogue by Paresh Rawal that said “Customer To Chu**** Hai” giving a bad taste to the story. Even though the cast like Rajkummar, Boman, Gajraj, Sumeet and Paresh Rawal’s cameo is a huge attraction, the film struggles to stay afloat.

Set in Gujarat, Made In China features the story revolving an underdog Raghuveer Mehta (Rajkummar Rao), who has got himself into various business ideas but failed in every one of them. He finally decides to pay attention to the inspirational financial speeches from Abhay Chopra (Gajraj Rao) and comes from a rich family. Cousin Devraj (Sumeet Vyas) is a business icon and also the father Vithhal (Manoj Joshi) undermines his talent. He is also motivated by his wife Rukmani (Mouni Roy), Raghu gains confidence to go for China with Devraj to crack a deal. When he gets there, he is left alone and feels ignored. He meets the master businessman Tanmay Shah (Paresh Rawal), gets an idea to do business, returns to India and finalizes a partnership with Dr. Vardhi (Boman Irani) to sell a sex-stimulating soup. The rest of the story is about how he deals with issues because of this business and the way he overcomes them.

This movie is Niren Bhatt’s story and begins to drag despite some exceptional sequence. The film is well written, but has some illogical scenes. The film is from comedy and drama genre with Karan Vyas’ dialogues that are slacking. This film has Anuj Rakesh Dhawan’s camera work that captures the buzzing China very well and combines it with a few similarities with India.

Made in China stars Rajkummar Rao with the character that that isn’t made for him. He tries hard, but the scenes are not able to utilize Rajkummar’s potential to the optimum. The film is not up to the standards when actor like Boman Irani is unable to create the desired results. There are a few good scenes, but nothing exceptional about it. Mouni Roy’s act is nothing nut a filler. Paresh Rawal appears in a cameo which is the best thing in this average film. He is able to lighten up the screen each time enters a scene.

Made in China has Mikhil Musale, the man behind the National Award winning film Wrong Side Raju, directs sequences that are not in sync and makes no sense. The film does retain the Gujarati flavour but still has a lot missing. Sachin-Jigar compose 4 songs and 3 are recreated. Sanedo, Odhani are fillers in the story. Valam is ideally placed and works to strengthen the chemistry of Rajkummar with Mouni which is fine in the film.

Made in China releases on 25th October, 2019.
