Motichoor Chaknachoor is the story of a simple couple who are looking for different things in life. With nothing strong enough to back the authenticity of the film, it is recommended on TV, digital platforms.

The film is suffering from a weak plot, the story begins with the leading lady Anie (Athiya Shetty) looking for a groom who can get her out of the country. Just because she wants to brag about this on her social media, she rejects many despite everyone admiring her beauty. We see Pushpender (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), who has just returned from Dubai and is also looking for a bride. They are also neighbours and somehow meet each other. Anie finally gets the feel that she has an overseas ticket in Pushpender and he gets his way to be married and indulge in legal sex. But, both of them have lied to get to each other and what will happen next is the remaining film.

Motichoor Chaknachoor has performance of Nawazuddin Siddiqui who just about manages to play the part. We’ve seen his great performances and this film does not qualify the average slot. He isn’t convincing as his character. Athiya Shetty works hard and gets the accent right and she has delivered a great performance. The efforts of understanding her character visible through her act. From the supporting cast, Abhishek Rawat who plays Nawazuddin’s brother is impressive but underutilized character of all. Vibha Chibher and Navni Parihar are good. They were not able to match up to Seema Pahwa or Sheeba Chaddha.

Motichoor Chaknachoor is directed by Debamitra Biswal and the film does have a great sync with her cinematographer. She treats her camera as yet another character in the film and makes its optimal use to escalate a few comical scenes. The sets are simple and that is an advantage to the film. Crazy Lagdi is one of the most liked songs but does not leave much impact. Abhijit Vaghani’s background score is great at bits, as he uses the sound to match it with the comical sequences on screen.

Motichoor Chaknachoor follows the formula seen in films like Badhaai Ho, Bareilly Ki Barfi & Dream Girl but fails to be humorous.

Motichoor Chaknachoor releases on 15th November, 2019.
