Pagalpanti reminds us of fun entertainment we saw in Welcome, Hera Pheri, Hungama, Dhol, Dhamaal. The film is loud and is not a good comedy film. Like every other slapstick comedy, this one is also set in London.
The film revolves around Junky played by Arshad Warsi and Chandu (Pulkit Samrat) who are brothers and are trapped with the bad luck of their best friend Raj Kishore (John Abraham). They try everything in their hands but fail every single time.
Raj Kishore’s bad luck makes the guys hampering a 7 crore car of Mafias Wifi (Anil Kapoor) and Raja Bhai (Saurabh Shukla). All three of them are forced to work for the crime-lords in the designation of food-tasters and bodyguards. Raj Kishore’s bad-luck effects the crime-fam as well. This leads them to fall under a huge loan from Niraj Modi (Inaamhulaq) and we all know who he is. All of this leads try their best with more nonsensical, un entertaining sequences that bring no laughter.
Pagalpanti has a scene where John says, “Yeh main kya Pagalpanti kar raha hoon, andar kyun jaa raha hoon”. Anees Bazmee has some stale dialogues that does not bring any humour.
Pagalpanti star Arshad Warsi tries his best and survives the poor writing because of his amusing comic timing. Anil Kapoor is dedicated and delivers the second-rate dialogues. He’s better than the rest. John Abraham’s attempts but is unsuccessful at uni-dimensional comic timing. Pulkit does well and wins the award for the charmer among all. Fans have likes his range in the Fukrey series, but here it’s funny. Saurabh Shukla gets to give good one-liners. Inaamhulaq plays Niraj Modi who gets an entertaining angle to his character and he delivers all he’s asked. All three ladies do not have anything substantial to add. Kriti Kharbabanda plays a poor cry-baby and gets annoying.
Pagalpanti is average comedy film, the film has a couple of good jokes, there’s nothing grand here.
Pagalpanti releases on 22nd November, 2019.
