Bhangra Paa Le starring Sunny Kaushal and Rukshar Dhillon get busy dancing!

The story is good but gets distorted, Sunny and Rukshar can be seen playing lead performances and they’ve done well for themelves. The script is half baked and it does not belong to one particular zone. In one of the dance performances they seem outstanding but start getting repetitive after a while.

The story is presented in two parts, a current one and another happening in 1944. The lead actor in Jaggi (Sunny Kaushal) who believes he’s the world’s best Bhangra dancer and then he meets Simi (Rukshar Dhillon). Simi also believes the same but then they both participate in a dance competition. Jaggi has a past of his war-veteran grandfather Kaptaan. Jaggi gets his Bhangra genes from his grandfather and Simi has a traumatic past of her parents’ divorce. Jaggi and Simi have their reasons to win the dance competition and get sponsored to go to London competing at the international level. Bhangra Paa Le has many things happening, it’s a dance musical and also has drama. The film fails at the musical level because there’s nothing memorable apart from one song. The film makers needed to work on music as they did on the dance. Though Sunny and Rukshar are great at their Bhangra performance but it gets repetitive after a point of time.

With a few heart-warming moments including Sunny and Shriya Pilgaonkar, the film does work well. Dheeraj Rattan’s story is jumbled and needed better edits. The film does have rich production values with Jitan Harmeet Singh’s impressive cinematography. Sneha Taurani has used the lights to her advantage giving an improved feel of many scenes. Bhangra Paa Le is good as Sunny Kaushal has great talent and can explore, it’s a refreshing start for Sunny. Rukshar Dhillon looks good! Rukshar’s dialogue delivery is impressive and has an uncanny resemblance to that of Anushka Sharma. Shriya Pilgaonkar gives a good performance in her limited role. She marks her presence with just her sublime aura. Sheeba Chaddha and Parmeet Sethi are good.

The soundtrack doesn’t have many tracks that are peppy, but there are so many songs. Jhoomar Dhaaga works well and the situation is created in the second half. Ketan Sodha’s background score goes well with the ‘Bhangra’ theme with the usage of Dhols.

Bhangra Paa Le improves well and is attractive to watch.
