Jai Mummy Di is about two neighbouring families who are at loggerheads with each other since a long time. We meet Puneet (Sunny Singh) and Saanjh (Sonnalli Seygall) in the introductory scene but soon they are smooching in their college. The have to pretend to fight just because their mothers can’t stand each other.
They try to plan something and announce about their love to the mothers but are pushed into dealing with obstacles. They decide to opt for a court marriage but are not able to do it because of their ‘hriday-parivartan’. They decide to get married as per their family’s wish but still love each other. They should be with each other but deal with many issues along.
Navjot Gulati has written and directed this film which is good for a one-line story. Characters just keep getting added from the narrative. Alok Nath is also a part of the film. Sunny Singh is stereotyping himself by doing similar characters. Sonnalli Seygall looks beautiful but that’s not enough to make a film do well. She seems to be overacting. Supriya Pathak and Poonam Dhillon are the titular characters of the film but do not have good dialogues.
Jai Mummy Di Movie is a 105 minutes film, it is stretched. With many songs – the recreated songs Mummy Nu Pasand and Lambhorgini are good in the film. Hitesh Sonik’s background score is over the top.
Jai Mummy Di is an average film.
Jai Mummy Di releases on 17th January, 2020.
