Panga is a story that the audience will relate with the character nailed by Kangana Ranaut. This is a sports-drama that will inspire all to strive harder in life.

The story revolves around a woman who is a mother and deserves a second chance to do her bit. We have Jaya Nigam (Kangana Ranaut) who once led the India Women’s National Kabaddi Team and now is any other mother. She lives her life with the regret of what she could’ve made of her life and what she instead chose. She says, “Main kya kar sakti thi aur main kya kar rahi hoon?” to her encouraging and supportive husband Prashant (Jassie Gill) and her pain can be felt in her dialogue delivery. Jaya meets with her old friend Meenu (Richa Chadha) who used to play Kabbadi with her and is managing to be a success as a coach. She decides to make a comeback (for a month) to fulfill his son’s wish but realizes the value of her lost-self esteem  and never turns back. It’s all her efforts that makes it to the national team, once again, years later.

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari treats the slice-of-life bits of her story, the stories are close to reality. The first half is well written with situational humour gaining all attention. The motivation in sports is much appreciated here. Panga has a good balance created by Ashwiny between sports and story in the second half which is commendable.

Kangana Ranaut effortlessly portrays the character of Jaya and shines bright as an actor. We can call it to be one of her bests performances. Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari has roped in Jassie Gill for his genuine smile. He act is much appreciated and will inspire me to be supportive.

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have given music in the film. Mohan Kanan’s Wahi Hai Raste is a good one in the film.

Panga is a daring film and has women empowerment written all over it. The film is a must watch as every mother deserves a second chance.

Panga releases on 8th January, 2020.
