She is featuring on Netflix, the film is presented by Imtiaz Ali. The filmmaker who has redefined the meaning of love a number of times in Bollywood. He has penned the story along with Divya Johry.

Imtiaz Ali presents darkness in the film. She is starring Aaditi Pohankar, Vijay Varma, Vishwas Kini, Kishore Kumar G, Shivani Rangole in lead roles.

She is available on Netflix and Geetika Ohlyan managed to come up with Netflix’s 2018 police-drama Soni. Bhumi Pardeshi (Aaditi Pohankar) is an extension to her character but with many goals. She works for the police, Bhumi feels the pressurize to fit into certain stereotypes which makes her uncomfortable. She is looking after an ailing mother and sister Rupa (Shivani Rangole), Bhumi gets appointed for an undercover mission and is posed as a sex-worker, to arrest a drug-lord named Nayak where she meets Sasya (Vijay Varma).

She presents a scenario for catching a drug-lord Nayak, but the show is a lot more with Imtiaz’s unique signature style of ‘confused emotions’ keeping the audience guess what happens next. Removing all the layers of Bhumi’s character on-by-one, the narrative manages to back it with something which you presume to be the main plot.

The story of the film is thought provoking and the die-hard Imtiaz Ali fans will have a few ‘mirror realisation’ scenes, a homeless man and with a ‘Tu koi aur hai’ subtext. Imtiaz makes the audience uncomfortable while exploring Bhumi’s character. The mild-erotica has Imtiaz playing with the mind using Bhumi.

Bhumi gives a fine performance and masters her act in the uncomfortable roles. Bhumi in a complex role for Aaditi Pohankar is convincing with her act that even during the show gets confused with the police or a sex-worker.

Vijay Varma gives his best and is comfortable in the frame. He’s someone you look out for when the show starts to drag. He deserves all the praise and gives an extraordinary performance which was just a ‘good writing’ away from being a classic.
