Hasmukh Review (Netflix): Vir Das gives a killer performance!

Hasmukh starring Vir Das is a black comedy, the actor has taken this risk with his latest Netflix web series Hasmukh. Also starring Suhail Nayyar, Raza Murad, Ravi Kishan, Deeksha Sonalkar and Manoj Pahwa – the series is created by Nikkhil Advani.

Actor Vir Das starrer is about the story of an aspiring comedian named Hasmukh who was never encouraged by a single person in his life. He is talented and can write good jokes, but he is nervous and has stage fright. Every time he plans to perform, he starts to sweat and shiver. He has been hoping in his mentor named Gulati, a popular local comedian in Saharanpur to make him a comedy star. But Hasmukh turns into a slave after years of hard work. One day, while in the middle of an argument, Vir Das’s character loses his cool and ends up killing Gulati. On the same night, when Hasmukh goes on the stage to perform his act, his jokes are well appreciated by the audience. Gulati’s manager Jimmy (played by Ranvir Shorey) takes Hasmukh’s side and the duo decides to do more and much better shows and are able to earn a lot of money. But unfortunately killing before his performance becomes a necessity for Das’ character otherwise he behaves nervous again. When a channel calls Hasmukh in Mumbai to be a part of their comedy show, there is a lot of stress and the challenge for him to find people to kill in this big city. Also, after being on TV, he has become a popular person. Does he manage to find people to kill with so much popularity? You have to watch the show to know more.

The show tests the limits one can go to fulfill their dreams? How to decide what’s wrong and what’s right? Vir Das did the role of Hasmukh and gave a phenomenal performance. Ranvir Shorey as Jimmy, Vir’s manager in the show is hilarious. The supporting cast Suhail Nayyar, Raza Murad, Ravi Kishan, Deeksha Sonalkar and Manoj Pahwa play a crucial part in the story-telling and they all are fantastic.

The show is ideal and a blend of black comedy, thrill, and great performances. The show is engaging and unpredictable.
