Gulabo Sitabo is starring Amitabh Bachchan & Ayushmann Khurrana in Shoojit Sircar film. Written by Juhi Chaturvedi, it will capture you in the setting of haveli and the drama will unfold. The film is engaging and you will come back with a smile!

The 120 minutes long film is orchestrated by Shoojit Sircar starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ayushmann Khurrana. The concept of Gulabo and Sitabo is shown through a puppet show in the beginning where the puppeteer recites the story of these two puppets. We see Mirza (Amitabh Bachchan), husband of Fatima Begum (Farrukh Jafar) who’s the owner of the haveli in Lucknow (mansion) they’re all living in. They’ve housed many tenants in the haveli, out of which Baankey (Ayushmann Khurrana) in the following no rules and not paying no rent since years. They start the petty fights between Mirza & Baankey which turns into a matter which attracts the archaeology department as well as hotshot builders to get that haveli at any cost.

Gulabo Sitabo is written by Juhi Chaturvedi who spins a world limited to a few souls whose lives revolve around one single haveli. Their motto is to be profited because they’re somewhere connected to the haveli. It’s a novel concept but somewhere while writing the right script, her writing is backed by Mansi Dhruv Mehta’s production design including the haveli.

Gulabo Sitabo star performance of Amitabh Bachchan’s Mirza is a very difficult character to portray at various levels. Initially he gets to understand the physical structure of the character and looks like a caricature. Secondly, he manages to adapt the accent and makes sure that each and every dialogue is heard clearly. Mr Bachchan does everything well ahead of being great. With Ayushmann Khurrana, Juhi Chaturvedi’s writing and the talent of the actor manages to keep everyone glued. Vijay Raaz needed to be given more screen space and he deserved to be in a better role.

Gulabo Sitabo has Shoojit Sircar’s filmography topped with gems like Vicky Donor, Piku, Pink, Madras Cafe. With the name of Shoojit Gulabo Sitabo shares an intriguing story. The laid-back form of direction gives the desire of needing more from the story/writing throughout. Shoojit Sircar and Juhi Chaturvedi have created a gem with drama and mind-blowing performances.

Gulabo Sitabo releases on 12th June 2020.
