Sadak 2 by Mahesh Bhatt retained Sanjay Dutt and didn’t get all-new cast, Alia Bhatt joins to add value to the entire team. Unfortunately the investors of this industry keep repeating films that are remade with nothing to add.

We get to see Aarya (Alia Bhatt) who looks mentally disturbed but she isn’t and her parents are dealing with some mental illness. Aarya is out to get revenge that comes about in the story. The actress decides to celebrate her 21st birthday at Kailash Mansarovar and gets Ravi (Sanjay Dutt) as her driver. Just as they are travelling to pick up her boyfriend Vishal (Aditya Roy Kapur) from Central Jail, Aarya opens up her secrets to Ravi. While Vishal is very uncomfortable sharing the cab with Ravi, Aarya is able to create a fatherly bond with him. Before reaching Kailash, Aarya’s secrets create a huge ruckus and mess up the trip. Ravi is a part of this family revenge saga and decides to help Aarya. All those who are watching Bollywood since the 90s will surely predict what happens next.

The movie concludes with the song ‘Shukriya’ and that will be all. Ironically both Aashram and Sadak 2 have godmen who are fake as the main crux of their story. Mahesh Bhatt and Sumitra Sengupta’s story will have to take the responsibility in making this average product. Jay I. Patel’s camerawork has offered usual bits and instead follow the basics. It’s titled Sadak is already a half-baked film with dialogues that seem unnecessary to accommodate the word ‘Sadak’ in them. “Bhagwan hamare saath hai, iss sadak par,” says Alia Bhatt in a major scene.

Sanjay Dutt is very good when it comes to deep and emotional scenes, and that works fine. Alia Bhatt has done a fine job and is able to stand tall in front of Dutt’s presence. Aditya Roy Kapur is the lover but does not have much to contribute with Sanjay and Alia. Jisshu Sengupta is decent while Gulshan Grover is wasted with his 80s name – Dilip Haathkatta (because he has one of his hands cutoff).

Mahesh Bhatt couldn’t get enough of Sadak 1 to direct the sequel. Mahesh Bhatt tries very hard with the songs losing the charm of the original. Some of them are good, but the story is not interesting enough.

Sadak 2 releases on 28th August, 2020.
