The Social Dilemma is a must watch to see the effects of social media made on all making us lab rats. Right in the middle of all the stuff  we are looking for and watching these days, The Social Dilemma is an eye opener.

It gives you access to the mind of social media creators. They have created a dramatic angle by showcasing three artificial intelligence panels talking to each other like evil masterminds. The Social Dilemma show the scale of this once we are watching this documentary. It’s an eye-opener to see how these people have given up on their dream jobs because of the way they have harmed the social fabric of the world.

A few major effects of social media on youth are depression, high level of fake news, increase in cybercrime, surveillance capitalism. The Social Dilemma shares about how ISIS has inspired people online and now white supremacists are doing the same. How Internet lynch mobs in India have disrupted democracy. We have gone from the information age to the disinformation age thanks to social media fake news. Plastic surgeons have informed about a new syndrome called ‘Snapchat dysmorphia’. It is when young people want surgery so they can look more like they look in filtered selfies. In just 5-10 mins of watching the docu-drama and it is 93 minutes of information. The Social Dilemma moves ahead and talks about how social media manipulates our minds in a way it commands. To be aware and realize how our behaviour changes as we scroll through our social media timeline, everything starts making sense. Surfing the internet will won’t be the same experience after watching The Social Dilemma. They hack your psychology and everything you see on your timeline has been especially presented served to you by the algorithms.

Skyler Gisondo, Kara Hayward, Vincent Kartheiser, Sophia Hammons are good and offer something huge as this isn’t a movie. It’s a docu-drama. But it is commendable to see personalities like Tristan Harris, Bailey Richardson, Jeff Seibert, Joe Toscano, Tim Kendall, Aza Raskin, Justin Rosenstein, Shoshana Zuboff, Rashida Richardson, Renee DiResta and others have come forward to talk about the issues.

Jeff Orlowski has brilliantly served important information right in it’s most interesting way.

The Social Dilemma releases on 9th September, 2020.
