14 Phere is releasing on OTT and the audience can choose to watch it at convenience. The love story of a couple is involving the ‘corporate work life’ of Sanjay (Vikrant Massey) & Aditi (Kirti Kharbanda), who are in love but are too afraid to confess the same to their stereotypical ‘anti-love-marriage’ families. They are uncomfortable to elope or leave each other. Sanjay comes up with plan through which he can finally marry Aditi.
His unique plan ropes in hiring actors (played by Gauahar Khan & Jameel Khan) who play their ‘fake parents’ & meet their ‘real parents’ respectively. This leads to a ‘tragedy of errors’ as everyone figures out the truth by the end. How & what happened next is what the remaining story is all about.
Manoj Kalwani’s script is not an exciting drama, there are a few rib-tickling one-liners in the story. The style of the genre is well done by Priyadarshan. There isn’t much with the story. Right from the lead characters’ conflict to the execution of a ‘well-thought plan, 14 Phere has many moving parts that aren’t actually moving in any direction; they’re stuck. Considering the places covered in the script, Riju Das’ camerawork is of no great deal following the usual basics. Editor Manan Sagar has tried to wrap up the film soon, keeping it at a little over 100 minutes, but the narrative is so stretched that it impacts the speed.
14 Phere starring Vikrant Massey is doing a mediocre script, it doesn’t hold any special challenges. The actor is overqualified for the role and not a single scene brings out his acting abilities.
Kriti Kharbanda gives a good shot, her role could have been better with good director. Gauahar Khan is playing old, she is charismatic, which is not impressive as her character sketch is slow pace. What dips down further is how a talented actor like Jameel Khan is wasted.
14 Phere is director Devanshu Singh’s direction, and it is composed by Rajeev V Bhalla & JAM8 clicks. The background score is good and goes with the narrative.
14 Phere is a romantic comedy and is a fun watch.
