Movie starring Akshay Kumar is set in the late 70s & early 80s, we can see the mission of the Indian government trying to manage the constant plane hijackings being planned around the country. The film follows the usual template, the story is offering the ‘problem solver’ in RAW agent Anshul, who is codenamed Bell Bottom (Akshay Kumar), to stay undercover.
There is a ‘personal’ connection for Anshul with the hijacking, we get to see his ‘almost perfect’ life. The film and his team work plan to permanently end the threatening hijacking incidents. Getting into the ‘execution’ part of the plan, the film moves towards the climax, where we get to see more excitement.
Bell Bottom is a story Aseem Arora, Parveez Shaikh’s work that offers a fast-paced, thriller with a reliable backing of Akshay Kumar and his humour. The story takes you to understand the process of the movie and leaves you on a high note with the implementation.
Bell Bottom star Akshay Kumar has given us a number of memorable performances like Special 26, Holiday, Airlift & Baby. Akshay Kumar is good in his role and Adil Hussain is overqualified for his character ‘Santook’. Lara Dutta was exceptional with her the ‘Indira Gandhi’ look, she has acted very well. Vaani Kapoor looks good but there is nothing of value to the story by her. Dolly Ahluwalia creates a connect with Akshay Kumar, there is a lot of depth in the cast. Zain Khan Durrani is exceptional as the deadliest terrorist.
